FURY Professional Grappling debuts July 2 on UFC FIGHT PASS
Danielle Kelly vs. Sofia Amarante headlines at Philadelphia's 2300 Arena
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – FURY Professional Grappling, a new high-level showcase for elite grappling competitors and fighters from around the world, debuts Friday, July 2 on UFC FIGHT PASS.
The night's main event sees Silver Fox Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Danielle Kelly against Roberto "Cyborg" Abreu black belt Sofia Amarante in a 115-pound no-gi contest, kicking off a two-night run for Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) at the venue, which also hosts "CFFC 98: Cutts vs. Lainesse" on Saturday, July 3.
"After we were forced to delay our plans due to COVID-19, we're absolutely thrilled to launch FURY Professional Grappling," CFFC President Rob Haydak said. "In the same way we've built the CFFC brand by discovering and developing the absolute best talent in MMA, we're now looking to feature the greatest talent in the ever-growing sport of submission grappling, as well. We're bringing the same commitment to high-quality, entertaining events that we've showcased with CFFC, and we're proud to deliver it to fans live and exclusively on UFC FIGHT PASS. We’re happy to have added former CFFC champion and UFC veteran Jonavin Webb to lead the show alongside our Vice President Brad Boulton and the rest of the CFFC staff."
Former WWE champion and two-time UFC veteran CM Punk calls the action alongside MMA Junkie lead staff reporter John Morgan and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belts Jay Regalbuto and Robby Beard. Tickets, which start at just $49.25, are currently on sale at CFFC.tv.
A veteran of Quintet and the Eddie Bravo Invitational, Kelly owns recent submission wins over the likes of UFC veterans Roxanne Modafferi and Cynthia Calvillo. However, she may be facing her toughest test yet in Amarante, who has earned multiple International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World and Pan-American titles during an illustrious grappling career.
Additional featured contests include "The Ultimate Fighter 29" cast member and CFFC veteran Andre Petroski against former Rutgers University wrestling standout Kyle Milanese in a 195-pound no-gi clash. A full lineup is listed below.
Stay tuned to CFFC.tv for future announcements regarding FURY Professional Grappling 1.
