CFFC 139 results: Bilal Hasan retains flyweight title with vicious body shot, stays undefeated
Top prospect calls for spot at UFC Seattle – or at least two tickets for the show.
PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – Bilal Hasan continues to prove himself as one of the most exciting flyweight prospects in the world today, delivering a thrilling second-round TKO win over Brian Hauser to register the first defense of his title.
The matchup served as the headliner of Saturday's CFFC 139 event, which streamed live on UFC FIGHT PASS from 2300 Arena.
While Hauser's wrestling was expected to provide some new wrinkles for Hasan to address, the champ's speed and striking prowess was simply too much from the start. Wobbling Hauser (3-2 MMA, 0-1 CFFC) in the opening round, Hasan (6-0 MMA, 6-0 CFFC) remained patient as he hunted for the finish.
Hauser did try and lean on his wrestling to force a change in momentum, but Hasan escaped each attempt with relative ease and eventually landed a crushing body shot that sent his opponent crashing to the canvas. A few extra strikes on the floor left referee Keith Peterson no choice but to wave off the fight at the 2:11 mark of the second frame.
Afterwards, Hasan called for his UFC debut to take place at the promotion's upcoming event in Seattle in just three weeks' time – though the Washington resident said he'd settle for tickets to the show if a fight isn't in the cards.
“UFC is coming February 22 to Seattle,” Hasan said. “If there's a last-minute replacement, put me in. There's no bigger star in Seattle than me. But if not, Dana Whie, Sean Shelby, Mick Mayanrd, I want two free tickets for me and my father to go to UFC Seattle, baby – and I ain't talking about no nosebleeds, b-tch.”
