Andre Petroski is ready to compete at FURY Professional Grappling 7

The last time Andre Petroski (9-1) stepped into the cage was November of last year. Being sidelined due to injury, the UFC middleweight contender has spent the last few months working on his craft and getting his body back into shape. Now, Petroski is ready to compete once again for FURY 7 this weekend. 

“I feel good,” Petroski said. “I feel like the time-off was good for me. I had a lot of injuries and bumps and bruises.”

Petroski is a BJJ brown belt, and will be competing for the fourth time with FURY Pro Grappling in the black belt division. While he’s faced tough opponents ranging from current UFC fighters like Ovince St. Preux, Eryk Anders, and Phil Hawes, the PA-based fighter has maintained a perfect record when it comes to mat. Although, his upcoming matchup for FURY 7 is rather different. 

This Saturday, Petroski is set to face one of the more prominent names in the BJJ world, Rene Sousa. Sousa is a black belt out of 10th Planet Bethlehem. Like Petroski, Sousa is no stranger to throwing it down on the mat, and both have continued to show their dominance when it comes to grappling. Different from his previous opponents, Sousa’s main focus is BJJ not MMA. 

“In the past I’ve gone against MMA fighters,” Petroski said. “This time, I’m going against a guy that is strictly, very Jiu-Jitsu style, which is very different from an MMA fighter who is good at Jiu-Jitsu.” 

Although Petroski will have a hard challenge ahead of him in Sousa, he still remains confident in his abilities and is more than ready to get the win. 

“Positional grappling will always win,” Petroski said. “It doesn't matter what my opponent is doing, if I’m more positionally sound.” 

Petroski will look to keep his perfect FURY record alive, and come away with another win this Saturday. 

“I just love to compete,” Petroski said. “I was given this great opportunity to compete on a continuing growing platform.”
