Bobby Lee misses weight by five pounds, matchup with Richie Lewis off, but event proceeds with 11 bouts

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The biggest event in Cage Fury Fighting Championships history will proceed with one less bout than expected following the CFFC 149 official weigh-ins, where Bobby Lee missed weight, and opponent Richie Lewis declined to accept the matchup.

The two were initially schedule to meet in a 165-pound catchweight contest, and Lewis (7-1 MMA, 1-0 CFFC). came in under the limit at 164.6 pounds. Meanwhile, Lee (15-10 MMA, 1-0 CFFC) was initially 173 pounds and was given additional time to continue his weight reduction. On second attempt, Lee tipped the scales at 170 pounds. Lewis was offered 30 percent of Lee's purse but ultimately elected not to concede the weight to his opponent, and the fight was scrapped.

Friday's weigh-ins took place at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, the same venue that hosts Saturday's event that also streams live on UFC FIGHT PASS and OnlyFans.com/cffcmma.

There were a few additional weight misses, as well, though the remaining matchups were all confirmed.

Now former middleweight champion Chris Brown 12-5 MMA, 2-0 CFFC) was given two attempts at the scale and was only able to get down to 187.2 pounds, dropping the belt at the scale. Challenger Guram Gochashvili (4-0 MMA, 1-0 CFFC). made weight at 185.2 pounds, using a fraction of the one-pound allowance given in CFFC title fights, and is still eligible to win the belt.

Additionally, Karli Jo Thomas (2-0) was 117.2 pounds on her second attempt on the scale, missing weight by 1.2 pounds for her strawweight matchup with Paige Wilcox (Pro debut). Thomas, who has now missed weight in consecutive appearances, was fined 25 percent of her purse, and the bout will go on as scheduled.

Despite the complications, CFFC 149 will still feature six championship matchup, including four straight title fights to close out the main card, and two NextGen title contests on the evening's preliminary lineup.
