CFFC 141 results: Anthony Guarascio claims heavyweight title, calls out Mohammed Usman
"The Daywalker" caps off a night of six finishes in six main card matchups on UFC FIGHT PASS from Tampa's Florida State Fairgrounds.
TAMPA, Florida – Doubted at every step of his journey, Anthony Guarascio continues to surprise, and he is now the new CFFC heavyweight champion.
"The Daywalker" scored a first-round finish of Dana White's Contender Series veteran and now former CFFC champ Bailey Schoenfelder to claim the title in the headlining bout of Saturday's CFFC 141 event, which streamed live on UFC FIGHT PASS from the Florida State Fairgrounds.
Guarascio was aggressive from the start, walking forward with massive punches as Schoenfelder tried to evade on the outside. The Tampa native would lead with jabs to the body and head before firing overhand rights behind them.
Eventually, a massive right hand sent Schoenfelder crashing to the canvas, and while he rolled and tried to recover to his feet, referee Andrew Glenn immediately intervened and waved off the fight at the 1:32 mark of the opening frame.
Afterwards, Guarascio took to the mic and said while a Contender Series berth of his own might be possible, he'd prefer to move straight into the big show, and even called out one of Schoenfelder's teammates for a date in the octagon.
"We should skip the Contender Series and go straight to the UFC, make heavyweight great again the way it's supposed to be," Guarascio told Din Thomas after the win. "It's time to get where I belong, and honestly, I'm pretty sure Mohammed Usman is somewhere in here, and honestly, he said his teammate was going to wrestlef-ck me to death, so if you can give me him as my first opponent, that would be great."
In addition to the title, Guarascio (4-0 MMA, 2-0 CFFC) took home the night's OnlyFans "Knockout of the Night" bonus. Schoenfelder (5-2 MMA, 1-1 CFFC) has now dropped back-to-back fights.
The night's other performance awards were given to athletes on the prelims, as middleweight Lucas Cortes as given the OnlyFans "Submission of the Night," and bantamweight Alessio Ksouri and Avry Mutschler combined for the OnlyFans "Fight of the Night" in their professional debuts.
