Heavyweight champ Larry Gonzales draws new challenger in CFFC 151 headliner

Towering Brazilian Vitor Resende now faces "OSO" on March 13 at Florida's Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa

TAMPA, Florida – CFFC heavyweight champion Larry Gonzales will still look to defend his title for the first time on March 13, but he'll do so against a different opponent.

Tafon Nchukwi, who was originally expected to face Gonzales on that night, has withdrawn from the card, and the 6-foot-9 Vitor Resende has stepped into the night's headliner. The heavyweight title fight headlines CFFC 151, which streams live on UFC FIGHT PASS and OnlyFans.com/cffcmma from Florida's Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa.

Tickets are currently onsale at CFFC.tv.

Resende (5-1 MMA, 1-0 CFFC) debuted for CFFC this past April, scoring a first-round knockout over Jahsua March at CFFC 141. All five of Resende's professional wins have come via stoppage, including four first-round knockouts.

Meanwhile, Gonzales (8-4 MMA, 1-0 CFFC) was the one stepping in as a replacement opponent to face then-champ Anthony Guarascio at this past November's CFFC 148. Gonzales secured the upset win via second-round submission to claim the title and puts it up for grabs in the new headliner.

With the new matchup, the CFFC 151 card currently includes:

• Champ Larry Gonzales vs. Vitor Resende – for heavyweight title
• Champ Sean Mora vs. Sebastian Ruiz – for bantamweight title
• Anthony Guarascio vs. Jackson Stanford
