Damien Anderson predicts quick night in CFFC 150 homecoming: 'I'll get this done inside two rounds'

New Jersey native has waited a full year for his CFFC debut and is promising to bring the house down at Philadelphia's 2300 Arena

While there are three incredible championship matchups at the top of the bill at this Friday's CFFC 150, Philadelphia's 2300 Arena is likely to be at its rowdiest a little earlier in the night.

New Jersey native Damien Anderson, a standout Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and undefeated MMA prospect, is fighting close to home for the very first time, and he's promising to bring a vocal supporting contingent.

"I'm from Jersey, so all my friends and family live out in New Jersey," Anderson said. "Ideally, I was looking for an Atlantic City card, but you know, still Philly is on the East Coast. We're going to get everybody out there. The whole arena is going to be there basically to support me and my fight, so you'll see on February 6. You're going to hear a crazy crowd."

This homecoming fight for Anderson, who now lives in Texas and recently took ownership of Austin's famed Simple Man Martial Arts, was supposed to take place last March. Unfortunately, an injury just a few weeks prior to the event forced Anderson to withdraw from a planned matchup with Sebastian Ruiz. Now fully healed and ready to return to action, "Demon Hands" is looking to pack the house for his long-awaited CFFC debut.

"I'm super excited," Anderson said. "I was supposed to fight for CFFC last year. Actually, two weeks before the scheduled fight last year, I suffered a crazy injury to my elbow, so that put me back basically an entire year. Now I'm back at it, but we're just going to do this homecoming fight once again, get the whole crew out there – friends, family.

"I own a gym out in Green Brook, New Jersey, so all the students are going to be out there. It's going to be a good time."

If Anderson (4-0 MMA, 0-0 CFFC) is looking to entertain his supporters, he's certainly drawn a willing dance partner in the heavy-handed Alejandro "Hondo" Gutierrez (4-1 MMA, 1-0 CFFC). The Fit NHB fighter is currently riding a three-fight win streak, with all three wins coming by way of finish – including a stunning 17-second knockout in his CFFC debut.

Anderson's grappling base is undeniable, but working under striking coach Elton Wells, he believes his well-rounded game is going to present clear issues for Gutierrez.

"He's coming off of a two KO win streak, I believe, has a great right hand, but the thing is I believe I'm a different level," Anderson said. "Coming from my background with grappling, I have the absolute best striking coach in the game currently, so I'm really happy with my development.

"Everything was meant for a reason, so this entire year that I've been off, I've just been progressing with my striking, so I'm no longer just a grappler anymore. I'm a full, complete MMA fighter with a great striking repertoire."

So there may not be gold on the line in this main-card matchup, but the winner could certainly be stealing headlines from the champions and prove themselves a name to watch in the bantamweight division. With the support of a raucous crowd behind him, Anderson is expecting to send them home happy.

"I'm surprised that 'Hondo' took the fight," Anderson said. "That's kudos to him. Kudos to him. If he sees that there's a path to victory with me, then he must be smoking crack.

"I'll get this done in, inside two rounds. ... I should be able to finish it in one round, but definitely within two rounds."
