CFFC 156 weigh-in results: Two heavyweight tilts – including one championship bout – top bill in reshuffled lineup
Interim belt on the line in main event, streaming live on UFC FIGHT PASS from Hard Rock Casino Rockford
ROCKFORD, Illinois – Friday's "CFFC 156: Stanford vs. Lewis" has a new look at the top of the bill, with a heavyweight interim title fight now supported by a heavyweight co-main event, as well.
In the night's main event, the undefeated Jackson "The Last Caveman" Stanford (3-0 MMA, 1-0 CFFC) will face UFC and Dana White's Contender Series veteran Bevon "The Bearwolf" Lewis (8-6 MMA, 0-0 CFFC) for interim gold. Meanwhile, the new co-main event sees the undefeated Matt Gawlik (4-0 MMA, 0-0 CFFC) take on a returning scrapper in Billy Ray Valdez (4-2 MMA, 1-0 CFFC).
At Thursday's official weigh-ins, all four athletes made their contests official without issue, with Stanford hitting the scales first at 247.6 pounds, and Lewis following at 244.
Meanwhile, both athletes in the co-main event were closer to the top of the heavyweight limit, with Gawlik registering 252.2 pounds, and Valdez at 258.6.
Thursday's weigh-ins took place at Hard Rock Casino Rockford, the same venue that hosts Friday's event, which features a main card streaming live on UFC FIGHT PASS following prelims that stream at OnlyFans.com/cffcmma.
The late promotion of the co-main event was needed after former CFFC lightweight champ Will "I Am" Starks was forced out of a planned matchup with promotional newcomer Roland Pruden, and that bout was scrapped.
One additional adjustment to the card saw a planned featherweight matchup between Gilbert Grappling veteran Henry Huff (6-5) and Darius "Da Sniper" Patterson (3-0) moved to 155 pounds. Huff requested the change on Thursday morning, and Patterson granted the move.
Everyone else on the card made weight without issue.
