CFFC 156 gets new headliner, as undefeated heavyweight Jackson Stanford faces Bevon Lewis for interim title
Event marks promotion's debut at Illinois' Hard Rock Casino Rockford on Friday, June 26
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Cage Fury Fighting Championship's first event in Illinois will have a new headliner, as undefeated contender Jackson "The Last Caveman" Stanford and Bevon Lewis will meet with an interim heavyweight title on the line in the main event of CFFC 156.
The move comes after the two men previously scheduled to meet in the main event, Busurman Zhumagul and Ron Humphrey, were each forced to withdraw from a planned title fight.
The newly dubbed "CFFC 155: Stanford vs. Lewis" takes place on Friday, June 26 at Hard Rock Casino Rockford.
The night's main card streams live on UFC FIGHT PASS following prelims streaming at OnlyFans.com/cffcmma.
The 29-year-old Stanford (3-0 MMA, 1-0 CFFC) debuted for the organization in March, needing just 17 seconds to earn a stoppage win over former CFFC heavyweight champion Anthony Guarascio. It was Stanford's third straight first-round finish since turning professional after an undefeated amateur career, as well.
Meanwhile, Lewis (8-6 MMA, 0-0 CFFC) was originally expected to compete in the co-main event against reigning heavyweight champion Vitor Resende. However, "Vitao" withdrew from the event, allowing Stanford to step in, and an interim title was created. Lewis was twice a winner at Dana White's Contender Series while competing as a middleweight. After leaving the UFC following a four-fight stint, Lewis has bounced between the heavyweight and light heavyweight divisions.
Limited tickets remain at CFFC.tv.
