Darion Abbey out at CFFC 148, champ Anthony Guarascio now faces Larry Gonzales
Itso Babulaidze vs. Kyle Hill also added as co-main event on November 7 at Philadelphia's 2300 Arena
Anthony Guarascio will still look to defend his title for the first time at CFFC 148, but he'll have a different opponent standing across from him in the cage.
With Darion Abbey forced to withdraw from the evening's main event, hard-hitting Californian Larry Gonzales (7-4) steps in on short notice and will now face Guarascio (3-1) with gold on the line on Friday, November 7, at Philadelphia's 2300 Arena.
The headlining bout streams live on UFC FIGHT PASS following prelims that stream exclusively at OnlyFans.com/cffcmma.
Gonzales enters the contest on the strength of a two-fight win streak, both earned this year. Fighting professionally since 2021, Gonzales has earned five of his seven professional wins via finish, including four by knockout, and he now steps in on three weeks' notice for the biggest opportunity of his career.
Meanwhile, the new co-main event sees the undefeated Itso Babulaidze (5-0) return to the organization for the first time since his professional debut in 2022 to take on Kyle Hill (4-0), a New Hampshire native who makes his CFFC debut.
Additional matchups added to CFFC 148 include lightweights Tyler Mathison (6-4) vs. Matheus "Pelezinho" Pereira (11-6) and middleweights "Bobblehead" Bill Lewis (1-0) vs. Cody Porter (Pro debut), as well as a NextGen title fight with reigning champion James "Las Vegas" Lledo (7-1) taking on undefeated challenger "Ice" Trey Frazier (8-0).
