CFFC 160 preview: Stacked lineup heading to Virginia for promotion's debut at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol

Egor Kostyuchenko, Tyler Veal collide in Friday's main event with interim welterweight title on the line, live on UFC FIGHT PASS

BRISTOL, Virginia – Cage Fury Fighting Championships debuts at a new location on Friday, as Virginia's Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol welcomes in the promotion for the first time for "CFFC 160: Kostyuchenko vs. Veal."

In the night's main event, an interim welterweight title will be on the line, as hard-nosed Ukranian Egor "Dynamo" Kostyuchenko gets his first crack at CFFC gold when he welcomes in undefeated promotional newcomer Tyler "TV" Veal. The winner will not only take home a belt but also put themselves in line to compete for the organization's undisputed title against reigning champion Busurman Zhumagul when "Bushido" returns from his current layoff.

However, it's not just the main event that features real stakes, as there are no less than seven athletes who are undefeated early in their careers featured on the main card alone and will put their perfect marks on the line. In fact, the six-bout lineup on UFC FIGHT PASS features an incredible combined record of 39-5 for the 12 promising prospects, so the standard will be high inside the cage all night long.

Marquez MMA's Egor Kostyuchenko (7-1 MMA, 2-1 CFFC) is a familiar face to CFFC fans, competing three times for the promotion in the past 18 months. His debut was a loss to tricky veteran Chris Brown that was marred by a massive weight miss for "Breezy," who would then move up to middleweight after the contest. Kostyuchenko has since rallied with a pair of victories over two impressive prospects in David Bergida and Jakob Scheffel to earn this title opportunity.

At 27, Kostyuchenko believes he's ready for the sport's highest stage, and he's proven willing to take on anybody, anytime and anywhere to get there, including his training partner Busurman Zhumagul should the opportunity arise.

Meanwhile, Tyler Veal (6-0 MMA, 0-0 CFFC) makes his promotional debut with an immediate opportunity for the biggest win of his career. The Chicago native works with Intercept MMA and Midwest Training Center and boasts a spectacular career record – thought with all six of his professional wins coming by decision, he's in need of not just a victory but also a finish to catch the eye of UFC matchmakers.

It's a massive moment for each of the two headliners, as each has something to prove. Expect them both to push the pace from the start.

CO-MAIN EVENT: Dan Holt vs. Elvin Romero

The night's co-feature is a big one in the lightweight division, as England's Dan "The Villain" Holt (4-1 MMA, 0-0 CFFC) takes on Virginia's own Elvin Romero (5-2 MMA, 0-2 CFFC).

Holt splits time between Manchester Top Team in his native country and Florida's famed Kill Cliff FC when he's in the U.S. The 23-year-old recently suffered the first loss of his professional career, coming up short against Stan Dorsainvil, who just made an impressive UFC debut two weeks ago. With the realization of just how close he was to his dream by seeing his previous opponent earn that call, Holt believes he's primed to get back in the win column and continue that climb.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old Romero hails from Richmond and works with the MMA Institute. In two previous appearances under the CFFC banner, Romero has proven his willingness to take on the absolute toughest opponents available, coming up short on the cards against a pair of undefeated foes in Max Metzgar and Levan Khabalaev. Proving his durability in each of those contests, Romero believes he's now leveled up, picking up a knockout win on his local scene earlier this summer, and now returns to the CFFC cage determined to secure his first win in the organization.

Brandon Bohannan vs. Brent Williams

Undefeated flyweights looking to follow the path of recent UFC winner and former CFFC champion Bilal Hasan clash in an intriguing featured bout, as Brandon "Jefe" Bohannan (3-0 MMA, 0-0 CFFC) faces fellow promotional newcomer Brent "No Luck" Williams (4-0 MMA, 0-0 CFFC).

The 24-year-old Bohannan trains under CFFC royalty in the Daukaus brothers at The Forge MMA in Philadelphia. Following an impressive amateur career, Bohannan made the leap to the pros in 2025 and has quickly rattled off three wins, including two via stoppage. He now faces North Carolina's Williams, an equally impressive Guerilla MMA athlete who has done one better than his opponent, securing first-round finishes in all four of his professional appearances.

With the CFFC flyweight title now vacant with Hasan's departure, an impressive win for either man could put them in the driver seat for a future shot at the belt.

Sean Clabough vs. Buddha Hanchard

On a night full of welterweight talent, "The Show" Sean Clabough (Pro debut) and Buddha "The Bounty Hunter" Hanchard (1-0 MMA, 1-0 CFFC) will each look to take a big step forward early in their professional careers.

Tennessee's Clabough had a spectacular amateur career going 8-1 with eight finishes, with his only loss coming to current CFFC NextGen multi-division champion James Lledo. The 21-year-old prospect now makes the move to the professional ranks to face Hanchard, a 23-year-old Kaizen MMA and Kill Cliff FC athlete who had a similar amateur success rate before impressing in his own pro debut at this past June's CFFC 155.

Two top prospects taking on stiff tests early in their career, and one will make a massive statement with a win.

Connor Cyphert vs. TJ Schaefer

Another fantastic matchup featuring undefeated welterweight prospects clash sees Philadelphia's Connor Cyphert (2-0 MMA, 0-0 CFFC) takes on Louisiana's TJ Schaefer (3-0 MMA, 0-0 CFFC).

Cyphert hails from Relson Gracie Combat Club and earned two wins in the first three months of his professional run. However, injury forced him out of a planned April appearance, and he now competes for the first time in 10 months. Meanwhile, Schaefer is a New Orleans native who trains with American Top Team's Team Lima. After dropping his amateur debut to recent CFFC fighter Christian Turner, Schaefer has since rattled off eight straight wins across the professional and amateur ranks, including six via finish.

Lucas Cortes vs. Johnny Santos

The night's main card kicks off with potential fireworks at middleweight, as Lucas "Ugi" Cortes (3-1 MMA, 2-1 CFFC) takes on Johnny Santos (1-0 MMA, 1-0 CFFC).

Hailing from American Top Team headquarters, Cortes is absolute human highlight film, earning three spectacular finishes in his three professional wins and seeing his only loss come in a "Fight of the Night" affair with Bill Lewis back at CFFC 147. He now returns to take on Teixeira MMA & Fitness athlete Santos, who impressed in his professional debut, taking home a dominant decision win over Jordan Baskerville at May's special outdoor "CFFC 154: The Thrill on the Hill" event.

These two will certainly be looking to kick off the UFC FIGHT PASS broadcast with a bang.

Ashley Barrett vs. Karli Jo Patton

The prelims wrap up with the lone women's bout of the evening, as promotional newcomer Ashley "Smashley" Barrett (3-2) takes on Karli Jo Patton (2-1) in a 120-pound catchweight matchup.

Massachusetts' Barrett is a 25-year-old USMMA-trained fighter and three-time Invicta FC veteran who steps into the CFFC cage for the first time. There, she'll take one Patton (nee Thomas) who will fight for the first time following her marriage to fellow CFFC fighter Justin Patton. After facing some difficulties at the scale in her past few strawweight appearances, Thomas competes at 120 pounds while contemplating a move to the flyweight division.

Kaelob Alger vs. Sebastian Quevedo

The first professional bout of the evening takes place in the flyweight division, as Maryland's Kaelob "Killer K" Alger (0-1) takes on North Carolina's Sebastian "Left Lane Warrior" Quevedo (1-1).

Tactical Combat Academy's Alger came up short on the cards in his professional debut in February but now returns to action seven months later seeking to pick up his first victory in the pro ranks. To do so, he'll need to get past Guerrilla MMA's Quevedo who delivered a spectacular spinning elbow knockout in May and now looks to impress once again in his CFFC debut.

NextGen: David Bertrand vs. Edwin Romero

The night's final NextGen bout of the evening takes place at middleweight, as Georgia's David Bertrand (3-0) takes on Virginia's own Edwin Romero (4-1).

The 23-year-old Bertrand hails from FBS Combat Club and has looked sharp early in his career with three straight finishes, although he has yet to face an opponent with a win to his name. He'll get the biggest test of his career against Romero, an MMA Institute product who returns to the CFFC cage and will look to set the tone for his family, as his brother Elvin Romero competes in the night's co-main event.

NextGen: Christon Bush vs. Huthayfah Karoush

Next up, the action shifts to the flyweight division, as Delaware's Huthayfah Karoush (2-1) faces Tennessee's Christon "Jaguar" Bush (1-1) with each man looking to pick up their second consecutive victory.

The 22-year-old Karoush trains with the fast-rising Marquez MMA squad and seeks his first win under the CFFC banner after coming up short in a 2025 appearance at CFFC NextGen 1. He now meets the 26-year-old FBS Combat Club product Bush, who dropped his amateur debut in March but bounced back in June with a knockout victory and now looks to build on that success.

NextGen: Diego Espinoza vs. Hugo Rodriguez

The night's first bout takes place at featherweight and features a pair of undefeated 24-year-old prospects, as Venezuela's Diego Espinoza (2-0) takes on Virginia's own Hugo "The Bull" Rodriguez (3-0) in the NextGen division.

The MMA Institute's Espinoza now lives and trains in Virginia and competed most recently in February, when an accidental illegal knee resulted in a no contest. He now steps back in the cage against Rodriguez who returned from a lengthy layoff with a decision win in June and now looks to make up for lost time as he returns just 10 weeks later looking to build some real momentum.
