The wait is over. CFFC is back THIS Wednesday & Thursday! (FULL FIGHT CARD)
After a six-month hiatus due to the ongoing global pandemic, it's finally fight week once again for Cage Fury Fighting Championships.
With extensive safety protocols in place to keep athletes and staff safe, CFFC 82 and CFFC 83 take place behind closed doors this week in Philadelphia, and both cards stream live on UFC FIGHT PASS.
The two-night slate of fights marks the first MMA events in the state of Pennsylvania since COVID-19 brought the sporting world to a halt.
Two championship matchups top the bill of each card, putting a total of four title belts up for grabs.
On Wednesday, "CFFC 82: Teed vs. Seumanutafa" kicks off the action, with the broadcast starting on UFC Fight Pass at 8:30 p.m. ET.
In the main event, reigning heavyweight champion Shawn "The Norwegian Nightmare" Teed (6-2-1) puts his title on the line against late-replacement veteran slugger Carl "Badwater" Seumanutafa (12-11).
Teed was originally expected to have a rematch with former CFFC title challenger Chris Daukaus. However, one week prior to the event, Daukaus received a call from the UFC, and despite it forcing a late scramble for a headliner, CFFC officials were happy to let him move on to the sport's biggest stage.
All six of Teed's career wins have come by stoppage, including four submission victories, so it seems the champion may look to take the action to the floor early. Meanwhile, Seumanutafa owns 10 career knockouts and the experience of fighting for noted promotions such as Bellator, PFL, Strikeforce and EliteXC.
The title fight will likely prove a clash of styles, but with Teed having never seen the judges' cards and Seumanutafa going to a decision just once in 23 career fights, a finish certainly seems likely.
Meanwhile, the CFFC 82 co-main event sees undefeated homegrown prospect Santo Curatolo (4-0) challenge for the promotions' vacant flyweight title against Canadian import James "Boom Boom" Mancini (6-4).
Curatolo's undefeated record includes four first-round stoppages under the CFFC banner. Meanwhile, Mancini has hit his stride competing for Canada's TKO MMA and is 4-1 in his past five fights coming into his CFFC debut.
Meanwhile, CFFC 83 takes place Thursday, with the broadcast also kicking off on UFC Fight Pass at 8:30 p.m. ET.
In the main event, reigning welterweight champion Jeremiah Wells (8-2-1) seeks the first defense of his title when he takes on three-time UFC veteran Bobby "Nashty" Nash (9-4).
Wells claimed the title with an impressive second-round submission win over Marco Smallman this past September, marking his second consecutive stoppage victory under the CFFC banner. He now takes on the heavy-hitting Nash, who needed just 63 seconds to score a knockout victory in his most recent outing.
In the co-main event, a pair of undefeated prospects challenge for the vacant CFFC strawweight title when Canada's Jasmine Jasudavicius (4-0) takes on New Jersey's Elise Reed (1-0).
Jasudavicius has already racked up four victories in just 13 months as a professional, including three stoppages. In February, she made an immediate impression in her CFFC debut, taking out Gabriella Gulfin in under two minutes.
Meanwhile, Reed made her professional debut this past October, picking up a first-round TKO win under the Bellator banner. That result followed a stellar amateur career, as well, and Reed now looks to take home the CFFC belt.
The wait is over. CFFC is back.
